A total of 7,112 units of bikes were registered in Bagmati zone.
The import of two-wheelers has increased along with the arrival of festivals.
Registrations of motorbikes witnessed a growth of 8.76 percent during
the second month (mid-Aug. to mid-Sept.) of the current fiscal year.
A total of 7,112 units of bikes were registered in Bagmati zone during
this period against 6,539 units during the same period last year. This is
also the first time that registration of bikes has crossed the 7,000-mark
after eight consecutive months. In the fifth month (mid-Nov. to mid-Dec.)
of the last fiscal year, 7,410 units were registered.
The companies dealing with the bikes
register them within the 15 days ofimport from the international
market. According to dealers, the import of bikes gœs up during the festive
season each year as demand and sales also increase during such occasions.
“Sales go up by 30-40 percent during the festive season with the special
schemes offered for customers,” said Saurabh Jyoti, vice president of the
Nepal Automobile Dealers Association and director of Syakar Company
that deals in Honda and Hero Honda brands of two-wheelers. He said that
sales of bikes were picking up in the Nepali market because of easy access
to finance and comparatively affordable prices.
Targeting Dashain and Tihar, most of the authorised distributors have unveiled their promo schemes.
Morang Auto Works (MAW) has launched “Dashain Ko Dhoom Offer” enabling
customers to get free Dish TV for purchasing Yamaha bikes, Syakar
Company is all set to announce its scheme within a few days and Hansraj
Hulaschand _ Company, authorized distributor of Bajaj motorbikes, launched
“Good Luckai Ramro” under which people buying Bajaj bikes can win cash
prizes and three Ford Figo cars over the campaign period lasting three months.
“We have a target to sell 20,000 units during this festival season,” said Shekhar
Golchha, director of the Golchha Organisation that deals in Bajaj bikes.
“We will be giving away a Figo car each month to the lucky winner.” Similarly,
Syakar Company has targeted selling over 12,000 units and MAW has targeted
to maintain the over all annual growth by 25 percent with the support of its festive
offer. “Sales have been on an upward trend for the last three years,” said Suraj
Manandhar, deputy general manager of MAW. “We sold over 100,000 units during
last fiscal year.”
