hi merobikerz,

I thought I might share this thing with you guys but decided to know how many guys really know about the rules about lanes in Nepal, So i want you guys to contribute in this, like you see in a road white line, yellow line, zebra crossing lines, and in two way there is short white line n long white line somewhere (you might notice this if you ever ride in highway)? what that really means?

Khai k ho kasai ko pani post chaina ki noone knows about this    license ko written test pass garna cheating gareko hola sayad hehehehe.

But let me tell you, these lane rules are important traffic rules and I found out that most of the guys don't know about lane rules. It's alright in the context of nepal i guess, but if you want to drive in country where traffic rules are strictly followed then this rules are very important if you are driving around.

I hope MOD and ADMIN will shade some light on this and I hope that knowledge about these rules will come in handy to ever bikers.

It's pretty simple dude !

When the line is yellow it means that it is separating your lane from one that is moving in the opposite direction.

On a two lane highway road the center stripe will be white, as it is separating two lanes moving in the same direction.

On a two way highway road the center stripe will be yellow (which we bareley see in Nepali highways cause our roads are not wide)
as it is separating lanes of opposing traffic.

Anyways,if a line is yellow just make sure that you to the left of the road otherwise you are headed into the traffic.

Regarding " Zebra crossing "

Zebra crossing is ment for pedestrians to cross the road at the specific point .... of the road (but hamro nepali janta haru le teti buzhna azzhai dherai time baki chaa)

Thanks for the post. But still missing something so i will add.

white breaking line n non-breaking long white marking between the road , this has rules about the overtaking front vehicle. If there is breaking white marking then it says that you are safe to overtake in that road and it's a safe practise to overtake in this case. If the while line is long or non-broken that means overtaking is not safe (you will see these type of lines specially in the corners and narrow roads even the road is straight **do remember short=safe n long=unsafe markings, plz note that this next time you will realize)

About the zebra crossing there are some lines infront of them , if you guys remember that nobody is allowed to croos that line and touch the zebra crossing. But in KTM streets nobody is following that rules(especially bikers) even they get far from the zebra crossing that makes pedestrian difficult to cross the road.

So guys plz remember it's a safe practise to follow trafic rules, give some space to pedesterian and other vehicle and be extra cautious while taking overtake.

It may be like this, in context of nepal, if there is yellow line on a side of road, then you must stick on the right side of that yellow line or between the yellow line on left and white markings otherwise you are heading in a wrong/opposite direction.


Sorry Kevin bro, I thought those line is not enough and confusing so I suggest above lines and sorry to make it more complex hai, plz do the necessary correction as u like and delete this post.

And I hope this post will help to spread awareness to the bikers about the lane rules in Nepal, may be this rules are simple but It's pathetic if merobikerz doesn't know this simples rules. no offend to you guys

acctually this stuffs were taught by the traffice police personnels while i was getting my driving licence....may be i skiped this one toppic...hehe........ but i thought continious line's were supposed to be, "no u turns" or "the place is not safe for u turns" or "veichels from opposite side may approach anytime in speed towards you"

about the next one.....next one i.e.discontinious line means the road is safe for U turns.....but!!.....you must look ahead and signal and make a u turn.....
so.......im in a confusion here.........

Don't be confused, there is always a no U turn sign in a bg road (like in newroad), so in my view white lane lines has nothing to do with U-turn.
