suggestions for the merobike.com webmaster
« Reply #16 on: March 29, 2009, 08:14:04 PM »

Hi bros n sis,

I'm glad and appreciate you guys for being a pioneer in making a biker community site. I stumbled upon this site while  googling I thought these kind of nepalese sites doesn't exist but i'm glad that i found your site. I hope you will continue maintaining the site. I can not neglect the fact that the site doesn't look so professional.

I have a few suggestions to make, they are:

only 1 article & that's so embarassing i hope you can upload articles in a weekly basis so we can have new things every weeek in this site,

Tour you are organinzing should play some social responsibility and awareness,
n i felt that community tab is just not right, you can take the idea from hi5 or social networking site for that and replace that with forum tag where other bikers can discuss,
pages of forum just looks bad, it's hard to find the message posted, and unnecessary google advertisement are so irritating

and you can also add bike related news and sites of other internation bikers community bcoz area and scope of nepalese bikes are just small.

and the main thing is you guys should emphasis bikers to drive safely, safety is the most important thing bcoz the narrow road, avoiding traffic rules,  and overspeeding may kills you especially in KTM.

I know pedestrians and other 4w vehicles try to dominate bikers , but first we should be careful about driving, safe drive and avoid accidents (dont' forget someone is waiting for you , your family or friends). over speeding doesn't make you smart.

In nepal bikes are only limited to drive in speed of less than 50km/hr, that's not fair though the road conditions, lack of education of other people makes it difficult to drive.

Resoultion of photos are very small, hope you will make at least 600*800,

and for the maintenance of the site you can ask the community for donations, giving 1-2 hundred as a donation is not a big deal for a guy who drive overpriced bikes. I guess money is the most important thing to maintain this kind of community site.

last but not the least , you should introduce yourself (ABOUT US) i guess visitors like me would like to know about you

i hope you will not take my suggestions negatively.
Regards
yubraj

Bro its really good to know that you think for the community.

Well iam not a mod but let me share some of the things I know!!!

The tour is just for fun and enjoyment. Its just a platform for everyone to meet.Besides  we have social programs like Blood Donation program with a social motive.Well we are awared of everything, modify garnu hudaina, bike fast kudaunu hudaina, one way ma chiraunu hudaina, but we stil do it.yaha awareness chahiyeko chaina…hami afai change hunu paryo..jaba samma manchey ko bhitrai bata change audaina…no awareness can change them!
This is a forum and forum has skins and themes.Normal sabai forum haru yastai hunchan,hi5 ta social networking site bho ni.Also u said don’t put ads, well hi5 ma pani ads cha ni!Yo ads ko kura pheri ayo bhane babal huncha…pahile maile garda bhako thiyo hehe….Even being the best commercial site of Nepal, Cybersansar has google adsense!!!
Forum ramrari khoja na,sabai latest news haru pai halchau Bikes ko bareyma!there are topics like Q & A , Bikers Group, Stunts, Bikes, Modified talk , Superbikes etc

hi hate bro,

Thaks for the reply. I appreciate.

I know it's easy to give suggestions but when you are driving 4wd or even you are pedestrian waht's your attitude specially toward bikers, likewise if you ride a bike you must think ( the roads doesn't belong to anyone soecifically that doesn't mean you can do dangerous overtake, break the rules which can endagner you n yourself, even you escape from this what others say - foul words which noone likes to hear, it's other thing you can not hear that) what they think of you especially in ktm where we can not avoid traffic jams. I guess bikers must have some honor and dignity. riding rough, acting oversmart, breaking rules doesn't make you smart enough or a good biker. sorry i'm not lecturing if you don't want to follow then it's not my fault, I am just requesting guys.

tours are always for fun n excitement, i agree that but i'm just saying that if you guys go for GTG you can discuss about the things which can prevent accident beisde fun and entertainment, i don't think it will ruin your whole program of fun n joy.( do you know the fact why in nepal ther is so much accident and how many people get killed in such accidents).though, i really appreciate the blood donation program.

I was not talking about themes and skins. I have seen better forums and just suggesting if they can improve on this it's up to the webmaster. it will be honor for every bikers if it looks international standard (bcoz it's the only one site dedicated for bikers of nepal).

i never thought that this site was a commercial site like cybersansar.com. It's usual for commmercial site to put ads but i guess this site belongs to the non-commercial category and can avoid ads and necessary funds for the site maintenance can be raised through donatins from the site member.

Please be informed I am not against anyone ideas and rules. and i appreciate and welcome any comments, I hope these kind of debates can help this site to improve and grow.

thanks

@Yubraj

First of all thank you very much for taking the initiative of passing positive suggestions for the benefit of the website. This is a public forum and in no regards will your rational view be perceived negatively. To introduce myself, I am one of the very few moderators in here who have been assigned the responsibilities of maintaining the content in the forum and leading the community hand in hand. Let me know answer your question accordingly as asked...

I'm glad and appreciate you guys for being a pioneer in making a biker community site. I stumbled upon this site while  googling I thought these kind of nepalese sites doesn't exist but i'm glad that i found your site. I hope you will continue maintaining the site. I can not neglect the fact that the site doesnt look professional

Googling for biking in Nepal two years back was my discovery of www.merobike.com too. The site has undergone few changes in design and outlook over the years and I agree the website still needs to look professional and appealing. I believe work is still underway on part of the administrator to redesign the site.

I have a few suggestions to make, they are: only 1 article & that's so embarassing i hope you can upload articles in a weekly basis so we can have new things every weeek in this site,

About articles the problem is we have very less people here or should I say in Nepal itself who have interest in biking literature or Moto-journalism. So hence the same old content in the Articles page. Anyways if you are so much interested to read biking articles related to Nepal, I wouldn't mind sharing some of those I have put up on the site which I had penned down, with contribution from a few members too. Begin from page 1. The link is here
http://www.merobike.com/community/index.php?topic=2012.30

Damn, how guilty I now stand on charges of self promotion! LOL. Over to the next question.

Tour you are organinzing should play some social responsibility and awareness,
n i felt that community tab is just not right, you can take the idea from hi5 or social networking site for that and replace that with forum tag where other bikers can discuss, pages of forum just looks bad, it's hard to find the message posted, and unnecessary google advertisement are so irritating and you can also add bike related news and sites of other internation bikers community bcoz area and scope of nepalese bikes are just small.and the main thing is you guys should emphasis bikers to drive safely, safety is the most important thing bcoz the narrow road, avoiding traffic rules,  and overspeeding may kills you especially in KTM.

The Get Together's(G2G) that we organize are moreover an interaction programme which is complimented by rides to places around the valley. So I would not consider these rides as tours being an avid tourer myself. Yes we have been trying to implement and educate safe riding culture among the community by laying emphasis on well mannered formation ride during G2G and use of helmets and if possible other safety gears during stunting events. We are still working on this safety feature. In fact safety is the message we are trying to pass through the site.

Community tab is fine for us. We recognize ourselves as a biking community and interact through the forum. The forum does look badly organized but it is regularly updated with posts by members on motorcycling happenings around the globe. So you first need to get used to the forum to discover valuable information. You don't gold get lying on the streets, you gotta DIG ! Anyways we are working on making it more user friendly. About the adsense stuff, we occupy a mass server space for contents of our free users and this is the only source to payment for server charges.

I know pedestrians and other 4w vehicles try to dominate bikers , but first we should be careful abo but driving, safe drive and avoid accidents (dont' forget someone is waiting for you , your family or friends). over speeding doesn't make you smart.

I completely stand by this one. Riding illogically fast and senselessly gets you nowhere but in fact far away from loved ones sooner or later.

In nepal bikes are only limited to drive in speed of less than 50km/hr, that's not fair though the road conditions, lack of education of other people makes it difficult to drive.

I do not agree here. Yes in Kathmandu maybe 50km/hr is the safest speed or the average that you can maintain safely. But the highways are a different story. In fact the highways are much safer than the capital for me. You have toured too, so you know what I am talking about. Yes though illiteracy of other road users does make even safe riding difficult. So a rider here needs a 20/20 vision, 100% concentration, logical rationalization powers and mass amounts of skill and experience on the machine.

Resolution of photos are very small, hope you will make at least 600*800,and for the maintenance of the site you can ask the community for donations, giving 1-2 hundred as a donation is not a big deal for a guy who drive overpriced bikes. I guess money is the most important thing to maintain this kind of community site.

The resolution of the photos in the forum are posted by users. So they decide the resolution. Anyways 600 by 800 is the best for downloading and uploading considering Nepal's slow internet connection. A higher pixel will take more time to view the pictures. About the maintenance and design of the site we are working towards it. Remember, Rome wasn't made in a day!

We know charging Rs. 100-200 is no big deal for our members. But being a free public forum and considering our current position we think its unethical to charge our members who are already contributing in the forum through their interactions.

last but not the least , you should introduce yourself (ABOUT US) i guess visitors like me would like to know about you

First of all we work as a community in here. So no single entities to introduce. Anyways for information and history regarding the site and its motives you could refer to this link
http://merobike.com/promoting_bikes.php..

I hope you know stand a wise man with all your queries answered. Any more help we will be right at the back door...

hi i-uze,

I am really thankful for your sincere efforts and hard work as i am always saying that giving suggestions are easy and I truly believe that Rome was not built in a day ( i like you using that phrase).

I felt something missing in  home page when i looked at merobike.com for the first time(First impression is the last impression i guess) so i decided to give you a suggestion as a new visitor as i am bike enthusisat and like to support site related to bike n bikers of Nepal.

Now I am telling you this as a member of this community that I really appreciate your work and I take your problems and difficulty as my problems. I will try to contribute in improvement and betterment of merobike.com and the community.

About the bike speed limit 50 km/hr I was talking about that is the rules made by traffic police (government) and also not happy with that and hoping for different speed limit while drving in highway my avg speed in highway is around 75-80 km/hr, so I am not satisfied with this rule however glad that blue dogs doesn't care about speed limits, they only looks for license, blue book and modifications. so it's better to carry a photocopy of bluebbook everytime and loads of cash for modifications heheheheh

I am happy that you guys care us by clearing all the issues, it helped me a lot to understand you mods and admin in a better way and lastly thank for the links you provided to me, i appreciate.

thanks

Thanks to every1 who have been a part of MB & Newbies (yubraj) as well for the appreciation & suggestions,
After your post i remembered my 1st days @t MB.com (i too googled & found MB)

Anyways, New website is being built as we speak for merobike.com which is fully programmed so that non web designers & programmers like us can edit & maintain it ourselves (add articles, pics, updates & all the other stuff we love seeing on websites)

We will be searching for talents as we move along, So if u have the right attitude & dedicated enough then you will be a part of the Elite MB.com team ( Web team i mean community is OPEN for all )!

Sad part is, since this is a open community the process is a bit slow & all of us (Mods / Admins) have our own shit to take care of from time to time so the process gets even longer, We are not neglecting the fact that we have a shitty website (layout & lack on info) but remembering that our community & forum is stronger than any others in the market.

In very near future the revamped website will be up & this time it will be humongous
"MARK MY WORDS" Once in for all if we do it then we will do it right & do it our way Smiley

Till then, Keep the suggestions & views moving along !

Thanks
Kevin
