MEET HARLEY-DAVIDSON XL 1200N NIGHTSTER PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TEAM AT CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE SHOW THIS WEEKEND!

See Original Concept Sketches of the XL 1200N Nightster

CHICAGO (February 7, 2007) - Don’t miss this one-time exclusive opportunity to meet and greet the stylists and product platform development team behind the newly introduced 2007 XL 1200N Nightster at the International Motorcycle Show in the Harley-Davidson booth at 6:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9. Get up-close with the Nightster motorcycle and hear what went into the development of this gritty, urban bike.

Join Rich Christoph and Frank Savage (Stylists), Lance Onan (Platform Director) and Bill Davidson (Director of Motorcycle Product Development and son of Willie G. Davidson), as the team unveils a life-size display of the original artwork and sketches that went into the development of the Nightster.

With a wicked combination of exceptional performance, unique design and a low seat height, the new 2007 XL 1200N Nightster sports an urban, blacked-out look and continues a half century of Sportster traditional performance and style. It’s 1200cc Evolution V-Twin engine is the heart of the bike and features a new medium gray finish with polished and black treatments

Much of the distinctive look of the Nightster comes from a minimalist and lightened look. The feel of the XL 1200N Nightster centers on mid-mount controls and solo seat with an ultra low seat height of 25.3 inches.

This bike is blacked out with black wheel rims and hubs that contrast with chrome spokes. The front fork sliders, triple clamps, headlight cover, handlebar, hand levers, turn signals and air cleaner insert, shift lever, rear brake lever, fender supports, rear shock top tower, and speedometer are all finished in black.

The Nightster also features unique rear turn signals that act as an integrated tail and stop light. It features a side-mounted license plate holder and front fork gaiters for a radical, retro look.

The Nightster is offered in Vivid Black, as well as four two-tone paint schemes (two in denim) and a unique Harley-Davidson fuel tank graphic.

The Chicago International Motorcycle Show will be held Friday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, Feb. 11, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. The Nightster sketches will be on display all weekend after the unveiling at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9.  For more information and full specifications on the 2007 XL 1200N Nightster visit www.harley-davidson.com.

2010 Harley Davidson Fat Boy Lo
Written by: Yogesh July 31st, 2009

The 2010 Fat Boy Lo motorcycle is a new riff on one of the greatest hits to ever roll out of the Harley-Davidson design studio. Darker and lower than the original icon of fat-custom style, the Fat Boy Lo retains the bold presence of the Fat Boy, while offering a fresh interpretation of the motorcycle that still defines the segment.

Dressed in satin chrome and denim black, the Fat Boy Lo model features a reshaped seat and handlebar that places its rider “in” the motorcycle, with the lowest seat height of any Harley-Davidson model. The half-moon footboards, black wheels and leather tank panel help Fat Boy Lo rock to a singular, fat-custom beat.

Harley Davidson Fat Boy Lo

Fat Boy Lo is a Harley-Davidson Softail model with a rear-suspension design that mimics the lines of a vintage hardtail frame, but offers the comfort of modern suspension that is hidden underneath the chassis. A horseshoe oil tank located below the seat, forward foot controls or foot boards, and the classic five-gallon Fat Bob® fuel tank are notable styling details of each Softail model.

A counter-balanced Twin Cam 96B V-Twin powertrain, rigid-mounted in the frame, powers the Fat Boy Lo model. The rigid powertrain allows tight packaging of the engine within the frame. Rated at 93.67 ft. lbs. of peak torque at 3000 rpm, the engine features Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) and is finished in black powdercoat with bright machined highlights on the cylinder fins, and satin-chrome engine and primary drive covers. The 6-Speed Cruise Drive® transmission features a new helical-cut fifth gear for smooth operation.

2010 Fat Boy Lo Features

    * The front and rear suspension are each lowered by 1.15 inches to give the Fat Boy Lo model a road-hugging stance. Seat height is just 24.25 inches, the lowest of any Harley-Davidson model.
    * New seat is narrower, which along with the low seat height makes it possible for almost any rider to place both feet flat on the ground when the motorcycle is at rest.
    * Stainless steel 1.25-inch-diameter handlebar features internal wiring for an uncluttered control area. This handlebar is narrower than the Fat Boy handlebar.
    * Nostalgic half-moon rider footboards are finished in gloss black.
    * Bullet Hole Disc Cast Aluminum 17-inch wheels front and rear have black centers and machined outer rims. Tire sizes are 200 mm-17 rear and 140 mm-17 front.
    * Rolled-edge front fender and full-coverage rear fender.
    * Fat Bob fuel tank topped with a satin-chrome console with speedometer and ignition switch, a leather tank panel with Harley-Davidson medallion, and satin-chrome tank side badges.
    * Over/under shotgun exhaust with satin-chrome mufflers and muffler shields, and flat-black header shields.
    * Denim black finish is applied to the following components: frame, swingarm, front shock covers, derby cover, horn cover, coil cover, oil tank, and air cleaner cover.
    * Gloss black finish is applied to these components: triple clamp covers and nacelle, headlight bucket, air cleaner cover trim ring, rear fender supports, footboards.

Harley Davidson to hit the Indian markets soon!!
« Reply #5 on: September 01, 2009, 08:07:55 AM »

AMERICAN motorcycle giant Harley-Davidson are in exploratory talks with the Indian government over setting up a manufacturing base in the country - that's the latest rumour surrounding the iconic US brand.

Sources say,  Matt Levatich, president and chief operating officer of the company, is due to speak at a conference next week in the country and is likely to also evaluate the possibility of launching its products in India.

It's believed Harley will launch some of its models in India by 2010-11, starting with Fatboy, as well as the baby 883 Sportster with a view to building bikes in the country if the market's strong enough.

Despite Harley's optimistic plans, the Milwaukee-based manufacturer has been hit hard by the effects of the global economic downturn; the company announced a 91% drop in profits - $19.8m (£12m) for the April to June quarter, from the $223m profit for the same period last year. Harley also announced it is to cut over 1000 jobs.

More About Harley Davidson Sportster XL 883

2009 Harley-Davidson XL 883 Sportster is the most affordable Harley, and is powered by a rubber-mounted 883cc Evolution engine. Thanks to lowered front and rear suspension, seat height is only 25.3 inches. This model will be the lowest priced cruiser by Harley Davidosn India.
The Harley-Davidson XL883 Sportster is not the greatest cruiser in the world: it lacks power and performance in virtually every area, but it is a Harley and it’s affordable to most. It is a basic, budget way into Harley ownership

It has a one piece Sportster Classic seat that can accommodate two riders, a 5-speed transmission, a standard passenger footpegs, and a mid-mounted rider footpegs with brake and shift levers. The brake system is a 2-piston dual-disc front and single-piston rear brake system.

The styling is a chrome staggered exhaust with shorty dual mufflers, a black powdered coated engine with wrinkle black covers, and a black headlamp visor. The handlebars are black low-rise handlebars.

With high-quality treatment on the springs, handlebar, forks, calipers, air cleaner cover and the Evolution V-twin engine, the 883 R is perfect for any racing fanatic. Coupled with an exceptional paint job and decent aerodynamics, no wonder the 833 is the choice of most racers.

Harley Davidson's Plan For Indian Market

Harley Davidson would be importing its motorcycle through the CBU route (Completely Built Units) and its base model is expected to be priced at Rs. 7 Lakh onward, while higher end models would cost even more. Harley Davidson is one of world’s oldest motorcycle manufacturer with over 107 years of history behind it.

Harley-Davidson expects to start selling its best in the world cruiser motorcycles in January 2010. The company has established a subsidiary to be located in Gurgaon, near Delhi, and has begun the process of seeking dealers. “As India continues to extend its global reach, so does Harley-Davidson,” said Levatich. “We believe Harley-Davidson has outstanding opportunities for continued growth around the world.”

The company’s current approach is to import its motorcycles, accessories and riding gear, and it will continue to evaluate how best to evolve its approach to the market as Harley-Davidson’s business in India grows. Harley-Davidson is the global leader in cruising and touring motorcycles and ranks as one of the strongest brands in the world, with motorcycle sales now in more than 70 countries.

The company will focus its initial steps in India on growing the Harley-Davidson brand through a variety of consumer experiences and on establishing a local dealer network. The Harley-Davidson subsidiary in India will be led by Managing Director Anoop Prakash, who said the company has begun the process of identifying initial dealers in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Punjab State.

But first Enjoy this funny video

and just found this today
Ford Collaborates with Harley-Davidson for F-150 Spotlight in Chicago

A fighter-plane-inspired automobile has been unveiled last year. This 2009, the Ford F-150 receives a Harley-Davidson treatment, as it was unveiled during the Chicago Auto Show.

A brilliant partnership between two of the well-known names in cars and motorcycles, Ford and Harley-Davidson has been successful in creating a biker-inspired model of the Ford F-150, the 14th F-Series truck that has received the motorcycle design since the year 2000.

The Ford F-150 is powerful with its 5.4-liter V8 engine that has 320 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. This power train is partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission. The exhaust system of the Ford F-150 also gets a sport-tuned feel. This biker-inspired truck features a two-wheel drive system or the optional four-wheel drive option.

The Ford F-150 model easily stands out with the six-bar billet-style grille and an aluminum and chrome badging. It also comes with the 22-inch tires (the largest in all of the F-Series line up), Euroflange wheels with the polished and painted wheel caps, and the classic Harley-Davidson Tuxedo Black coating combined with Ford’s pioneer application of Lava, a dark maroon metallic color.

The interior of the Ford F-150 also carries the biker-theme—the seats received the ridged leather design, imprinted button snaps, and specialized zippers borrowed from Harley jackets. According to Design Director, Patrick Schiavone, the Ford F-150’s interior and exterior designs are tightly linked. “It’s very much like how some customized Harley-Davidson motorcycles have a prominent theme that runs through them,” said Schiavone. “That’s how we tie it in with custom bikes.”
